IS THE DOUBLE EAGLE M401 BREACHER ANY GOOD
Category: Product Guides

One of the biggest questions we get asked is ‘is XYZ gun any good?’, and rightly so – our customers want to make sure they’re getting the best bang for their buck. With that in mind, over the next few months we’re going to be taking a look at some of the most popular searches on our website and asking the question – is it any good?

WHAT IS THE M401 BREACHER?

The M401 Breacher is the designation given to airsoft replicas of Remington’s Model 870 Shotgun. The Remington Model 870 is a pump-action shotgun manufactured by Remington Arms Company, LLC. It is widely used by the public for sport shooting, hunting, and self-defence. It is also commonly used by law enforcement and military organisations worldwide.

Available in a range of different configurations, the M401 Breacher is most akin to the Tac-14 version of the 870. The Tac-14 is extremely compact by design, but retains the reliability and stopping power of previous models. It is chambered in 12 gauge, with a 14″ barrel and a capacity of 4+1. Owing to its unique design, the Tac-14 is not designated a shotgun, but a firearm.

IS IT ANY GOOD?

So just how good is the Double Eagle M401 Breacher? Well, it very much falls under the cheap and cheerful category. For just over €20, you’re not going to get an all singing, all dancing product – it’s very much a ‘managing your expectations’ type of product.

If you’re buying the Double Eagle M401 Breacher as your only airsoft gun for use in an actual airsoft game, then you’re likely to be in a situation where you are outgunned by your fellow players. However, if you’re buying it as a secondary weapon to mess around with, or simply buying it to plink targets in the garden, then you’re going to get a lot of joy from the M401 Breacher.

Furthermore, the Double Eagle M401 Breacher is perfect as a piece to ‘dress up’ your load-out. I personally own one that is attached to a rucksack that I make use of in games. The only real time it ever gets any real use is if I’m defending a position, doing my best to imitate Black Hawk Down’s infamous Shughart and Gordon – constantly changing weapons when my primary is down in hectic moments.

Another great use for the M401 Breacher is pistol and shotgun games. Due to the much smaller engagement ranges, the spring-powered M401 Breacher offers a more than capable platform to run around with and comes at a fraction of the price of a good pistol.

All in all, you could spend €25 on much worse things than the Double Eagle M401 Breacher. You’ll definitely get a lot more use out of it than anything else you’d spend €25 on!
